Shana Tucker - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
Shana Tucker
Touted by JazzTimes as “a jazz talent...whose imprint and vitality has already been quite visible in North Carolina,” ChamberSoul cellist-vocalist-songwriter SHANA TUCKER has been on a steady rise towards national/international recognition ever since the release of her debut CD, “SHiNE” (2011/MamaGooch Music). Shana's journey as a solo artist began in 2009, when she arrived in Durham, NC and quickly became a staple in the vibrant Triangle music scene. Triangle Arts & Entertainment notes Shana as “a complex musician who offers not only a world-class voice that rivals that of Cleo Laine or Diana Krall, but also is an accomplished cellist…able to compete with musicians who make their living simply by playing one instrument...she carves out a space that is intrinsically hers...”. In addition to opening for critically-acclaimed talents like The Indigo Girls, Javon Jackson, and Norah Jones, Shana's vocals and cello playing have been featured on recordings and performances by noteworthy North Carolinian artists The Foreign Exchange, Jeanne Jolly, Shirlette Ammons & The Dynamite Brothers, The Beast Big Band, and associated with notable organizations including Community Chorus Project, WUNC-TV, Girls Rock NC, The Art of Cool Project, and OurState Magazine. A 2011 radio interview on APM’s “The Story with Dick Gordon” let to an invitation to join the musical cast of KÀ by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, where Shana currently splits time when she is not on the road or home in her beloved North Carolina.
