Unifier (formerly known as FUTURE GHOSTS)
Unifier (formerly known as FUTURE GHOSTS)
There has always been two different writing approaches for musicians — writing pop songs with the sole purpose of making one feel good and captivating the heart, and/or writing songs that are progressive and push the boundaries of what is possible in a specific genre. A big challenge is to integrate both styles and write hit songs that reach new levels to move a sound forward without being generic. With Future Ghosts’ new album ‘Colorado,’ the group has done just that. They have created an album that fuses the sounds of Switchfoot, Foo Fighters and Jimmy Eat World with the progressive genre-pushing of groups like Brand New, The Dear Hunter and Manchester Orchestra. They’ve included the most brilliant of all pop-rock influences, that also bridges the gap between the two theories, making everyone happy!
The Greensboro, North Carolina group’s debut album ‘Colorado’ holds a maturity that is uncommon for having only released a single EP since the group formed in 2010. Through narrowing down a mass of 33 demos, the 12 songs that make up the album were chosen. Future Ghosts headed to New York City to record at the esteemed Cannon Found Soundation Recording Studios (Man Overboard, Basement, Transit) under producer Jesse Cannon (The Cure, Saves The Day, The Menzingers). After working very long hours for several weeks, they emerged with an album that holds a variety of different moods, which all fit into the concise trip that ‘Colorado’ takes the listener on.
Nuclear Honey
Nuclear Honey
Prior to forming Nuclear Honey, Reaves Greer and Gray Henderson played in Raleigh, NC based bands, Ascella Vega and Sign of the Rhino as drummer and guitarist respectively. After each band came to an end, they decided to take a new, more natural approach to music where they would be managing the instruments in which their songwriting takes place. This moved Reaves out from behind the skins to join Gray on guitar. Each having written a number of new songs between Sign of the Rhino and the formation of Nuclear Honey in late Fall of 2011, they leisurely recorded four songs with longtime friend Dave Bartholomew in the front office of his family's tombstone engraving business. The four tracks were released in July of 2012 as their debut EP appropriately entitled, "Tombstone Sessions."
Apples And Airplanes
Apples And Airplanes
Breaking the conventions of your average 4 piece band, Apples and Airplanes combines elements of acoustic rock with that of funk, gospel, and hip-hop to create a style that defies genre.
Maid Myriad
Maid Myriad
After receiving heavy local airplay from their debut EP "Embrace" and opening for such national acts as Primus, Gogol Bordello, As Tall As Lions and Mae as well as putting miles on the van hours with regional tours, Akron Ohio’s Kaleidoscope Rock band Maid Myriad is back with their blend of dynamically versatile songs, angsty progressive riffs, delicate pin drop moments and intense start/stop dynamics. Led by protagonist songwriter JCK, Maid Myriad packs more genres into a band than most. Blending their love of progressive, psychedelic, punk, ambient and acoustic music, the soaring vocals mixed with intricate drums and spacey crunchy melodic guitars bond together to form the plethora of sounds that is Maid Myriad. After releasing two critically acclaimed EPs, and being named Akron's 2nd best local band in 2010 (behind The Black Keys, respectively.) the boys are currently at work on their first full-length record due to be out in February 2013 on Akron, OH label Diskette Records.
